Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

To ensure that your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not arrive before 4pm (earlier by prior arrangement). As we live on the farm visitors will be greeted on arrival and shown into the cottage by Mrs Ann Eddon.

A single-track road brings you from the village of Cropton to the main entrance of Whitethorn Farm.  The farm is family run and children are frequently on the premises.  It is requested that visitors exercise caution when entering the car park.  Parking is available for a number of vehicles along side the main farmhouse adjacent to Laura’s Cottage.

General internal information

The hallway into the cottage is well lit and has solid oak flooring.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a ceramic hob, oven, integrated fridge and dishwasher, kettle, microwave, toaster and a full range of crockery and utensils. Instruction manuals for all appliances are in the cottage but if you are unsure on anything just ask, as we are happy to help.

The seating in the open plan kitchen/living area includes four high backed well padded dinning chairs and dining table, two leather settees and coffee tables, TV with freeview/cd/dvd via remote controls. The floor covering in the lounge is carpet and the kitchen is solid oak floorboards.

There is one double bedroom and one twin bedded that can be converted into a six-foot super king. All duvets are hollow fibres but the pillows are a mixture of feather and hollow fibre. Both bedrooms have a dressing table with stool and large mirror, bedside tables with reading lights and clock radios. The twin bedded room has a walk in wardrobe and the double room has a free-standing wardrobe. The floor covering in both bedrooms is carpet. Both bedrooms have TV with freeview via remote controls. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the cottage.

There are laundry facilities contained within the utility room, which is at the rear of the cottage and is accessed externally. The room contains an automatic washing machine and a tumble dryer along with an upright fridge freezer.

An oil boiler provides hot water and heating to the cottage. The heating can be timed to come on and off at your preferred time. The cottage is fitted with hard-wired smoke and heat detectors with battery backup. There are fire doors on every room.

Grounds and Gardens

Laura’s Cottage has pleasant grounds with outstanding views towards the Yorkshire Wolds.  The Farmhouse garden is walled and well maintained. Visitors wishing to tour the farm are requested to ask for a guide.

Additional Information

There is patchy mobile phone reception in Cropton and you may have to stand in the front garden to make a call.

Dustbin days are Mondays. At the back of the farmhouse you will find the green wheelie bin which is used for waste currently not being re-cycled and heading for landfill. The green re-cycling box is for newspapers, glass bottles and tins.

Although the cottage and caravans are single storey they are not suitable for disabled visitors as the entrance to all the properties are too narrow.

We pride ourselves on our cleanliness so we do not take any pets and are 100% smoking free.
